The Greek isle of Crete is blessed with a fascinating history spanning over 4000 years, amazing natural beauty, and healthy food. There is much to discover and much to protect. Unsustainable development threatens the land, traditional agriculture, and health. In Heritage Protectors, 22 people share their knowledge, initiatives, and dreams for a more resilient society. Several interviewees are globally renowned for their work, while others deserve wider recognition. Heritage Protectors covers history, agroecology, music, biodiversity, toxicology, young organic farmers, resilience, and hope. The documentary presents local stories of global issues and solutions. A web platform is also being created with updates on heritage protectors in Crete and around the world.
