African Screenings will develop three main areas:
1. The Community Film Festival consists of screenings in public venues and schools and social and cultural communication campaigns.
2. The two training courses, designed to foster inclusivity, will empower young filmmakers to create groups and establish teams for public screenings and events.
3. Launch of start-ups. The project also involves additional activities, such as communications and fundraising, networking both at a local and international level and monitoring and evaluation before and after the project. The project is developed over a 3-year period in the following countries: Ivory Coast | Grand Bassam Department (from March 2018) Mozambique | Mafalala District (Maputo) and Inhassoro Department (from October 2018) Cameroon | Douala – Littoral Region and Mbalmayo-Centre Region (from December 2018) Uganda | Luzira in Kampala (from January 2019). The project is conceived to ensure sustainability and replicability; it involves the community, local organizations, and cultural events, providing opportunities for sharing know-how in the creative, artistic, and training sectors. The long-term goal is to develop the project in 12 countries over a 9-year period.
