Cannabis Media Council

The Cannabis Media Council uses the power of media to uplift light-hearted advertising campaigns that show positive experiences with cannabis and normalize consumption across generations. Despite massive progress in cannabis industry regulations, with over half of the American population now able to legally purchase cannabis products, advertising and media access remain inconsistent and often censored. The Council aims to address these challenges by connecting with publishers, educating them on evolving media opportunities, and annually releasing self-regulated guidelines and best practices for cannabis advertisers. Striving to be the collective voice in cannabis, the Council seeks to change the narrative and broaden consumer awareness, similar to the USDA’s “Got Milk?” campaign. While checkoff programs with national, mainstream campaigns are standard in other industries, they are not yet sanctioned for the cannabis sector. In preparation for national legalization, The Council is establishing the necessary coalition and standards to meet the growing industry’s need for factual and creative consumer connections through advertising. The Cannabis Media Council’s fundraising goal reflects its ambition to air the first nationally broadcast pro-cannabis commercial during a major advertising event. With over 300 industry members and growing, the Council represents a collective effort to normalize cannabis consumption and foster confident consumers, ultimately aiming to grow the addressable market.
