Open Country Mag
Open Country Mag is a multiplatform space telling essential, in-depth stories in Nigerian film and African literature and serving as the online publisher of Folio Nigeria, formerly CNN’s exclusive affiliate in Africa. From acclaimed writers to award-winning actors, from icons to emerging voices, in inspiring Profiles and incisive reviews, it is contextualizing Africa in the global conversation, serving its intercontinental readership — mostly from Nigeria, the US, and the UK — stimulating features on the forces shaping our time, and leading a new ascent of glocal media from the continent.
As a hub of some of the continent’s most important conversations on ideas and innovation, Open Country Mag has had on its cover celebrated artists including writers Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Teju Cole, Damon Galgut, and Tsitsi Dangarembga, and Nollywood superstar Rita Dominic.
Open Country Mag champions young creatives through a series of groundbreaking projects, including highlighting rising literary voices with The Next Generation special issues, co-facilitating Nigeria’s first ever bestseller list with bookstore Rovingheights, and mentoring new talents in art, fashion, music, film, and media with the OCM Curatorial Fellowship.
