A QUIET LOVE

Director & Producer: Garry Keane

, Anne Heffernan, Seán Herlihy

A Quiet Love is an intimate and moving film that follows three Deaf couples as they share their remarkable love stories through sign language: a decades-long forbidden romance across a religious divide, an LGBTQI+ couple navigating parenthood with Deaf and hearing children, and a Deaf boxer and his hearing partner facing a life-altering choice. A cinematic celebration of resilience, connection, and enduring love; featuring an immersive soundscape, A Quiet Love offers a beautiful insight into the world of Deaf people. Ireland’s first feature film in Irish Sign Language (a minority, indigenous language), and the first produced by a mixed Deaf and hearing team. The film won the Global Production Award in Cannes for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for the behind-the-scenes efforts to create opportunities for Deaf filmmakers while authentically representing the stories of this underrepresented community on screen.

12-year-old Tatheer embarks on a week-long Police boot camp for girls from a social housing estate in Copenhagen. Far from home, deep in the woods, she navigates grueling rituals, elusive social dynamics, and personal setbacks to find her place in this tender and revealing coming-of-age story.
