In a grassroots effort to overcome economic injustice driven by language barriers and cultural differences, SGVUnited is intended to bridge silod communities with a fun stigma-busting messaging campaign that will be written and performed by community members who populate the region. SGVUnited will build and broadcast a popular cultural campaign featuring the diverse population, the eclectic artists and businesses, renown local celebrities, and the majestic locations of the San Gabriel Valley.
The regions population will write, perform and record the campaign from a series of community-wide music and poetry workshops recruiting students, working adults, families, and senior citizens.
The final campaign will be a fun and informative song about the quirky customs that make up this majestic region, accompanied by a song-length ‘music’ video in the three dominant local languages Spanish, Mandarin and English, listed in order of population size.
This economic justice campaign will dissolve ethnic barriers and provide an entertaining learning experience about our cultural differences. The result will break unnecessary boundaries and invite the ‘other’ over.
