STEAL THE WORDS
“Steal the Words” is an eco-horror short film that is set on the outskirts of a booming oil town near Midland, Texas where an ex-oil baron is holed up in his rundown ranch. When the secret packages arrive, he wrestles with a set of bizarre, horrific tasks to keep control of the situation at hand. “Steal the Words” is heavily inspired by Maki’s own journey witnessing environmental destruction in the communities she has lived in. Intentional or not, she has learned how these practices are directly connected to the control of women & their rights throughout history.
