“Negatives to Positive” is a cultural art exhibition and healing experience that bridges personal legacy with sports history. The exhibition honors Taraja Ramsess, his beloved children, and his mother, Akili-Casundria Ramsess, a Pulitzer Prize–winning photo editor and trailblazing photojournalist, whose work captured both the soul of a family and the spirit of a generation.
Partnering with her nephew, Glen Anthony McGowan, who is co-producing and curating the experience, the exhibition features two powerful dimensions: an intimate family tribute exploring love, loss, and resilience, and a rare public unveiling of never-before-seen photographs from the 1988 and 1989 NBA Finals, captured by Akili during the Showtime Lakers era.
Debuting during Black History Month and the 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles, the birthplace of Taraja and the city where Akili began her remarkable career. “Negatives to Positive” transforms tragedy into triumph through art, storytelling, and community, inviting guests to experience a collection that redefines legacy, both on and off the court.
