XALO RECORDS

XALO RECORDS is a preservation and storytelling project built around the rediscovery of an unreleased 1964 album recorded by French singer Jacqi, the grandmother of the project’s lead artist. The project has two deliverables: (1) the professional restoration and public release of the original 1964 recordings, and (2) a new body of music and short-form film work created in response to that archive.

The 1964 material is being digitized, cleaned, restored, and mastered so it can be released on major digital platforms and in limited physical editions. In parallel, the project’s lead artist creates new compositions that incorporate and harmonize with the archival recordings, designed to introduce contemporary audiences to the original work while preserving its historical integrity. XALO RECORDS also documents the restoration process and Jacqi’s story through short documentary-style videos and a small set of visual pieces that help audiences understand the archive, the process, and the cultural context.

Public access is central: audiences will be able to hear the restored album, explore curated archival materials (letters, photographs, and context), and watch short films documenting the project’s restoration and creative process. The project’s goal is to recover a nearly-lost artistic voice and make it accessible, discoverable, and usable for educational and cultural programming.

XALO RECORDS serves audiences interested in music history, archival preservation, and intergenerational storytelling, and it positions restoration as cultural care, ensuring the work can be experienced now and preserved for the future.
