Impact Campaign Producers | Richie Reseda, Contessa Gayles, Rahael Asfaw, JJ’88, and David Felix Sutcliffe

Film Director | Contessa Gayles

At 15, he took a life. Three days later, his brother’s life was taken. A moving chronicle of forgiveness, family, and the transformative power of art, Songs from the Hole weaves music and mixed-media storytelling into an innovative documentary visual album. Through lyrical narration and original music, incarcerated musician James “JJ’88” Jacobs reveals his innermost struggles as a person who has both committed and experienced harm. Written and composed behind bars, the film invites audiences to witness the possibility of healing within cycles of trauma and violence.

12-year-old Tatheer embarks on a week-long Police boot camp for girls from a social housing estate in Copenhagen. Far from home, deep in the woods, she navigates grueling rituals, elusive social dynamics, and personal setbacks to find her place in this tender and revealing coming-of-age story.
