WHEN TRUTH HURTS

The film follows an investigative journalist battling personal and professional obstacles. Having grown up in a difficult childhood, he works with a mentor and a team to expose crimes and money laundering within a charitable organization in Sri Lanka. Simultaneously, he struggles to run his own charity, hindered by a corrupt system that blocks its legal registration.

After a confrontation with officials, he is falsely arrested and spends seven days in prison. His newspaper is acquired by a corporate entity, leaving him unemployed and struggling to survive. Faced with the legal case against him, he is forced to compromise with the authorities, a bitter reality that shatters his moral beliefs and the ideals he has held for years. Against all odds, he pours his experience into writing a book, hoping it will change his life, restore his career, and bring lasting recognition. Though the book gains public attention, he realizes fame alone cannot create real social impact.

Facing the loss of his home and stability, he ultimately takes a corporate job that forbids personal activism. The film powerfully explores the tension between ideals and survival, and the sacrifices required to navigate a corrupt system while confronting the collapse of one’s own values.
