If we are lucky, we get one person in the world who sees us, really sees us, has our back, and loves us unconditionally. It’s difficult to put into words because it’s the easiest thing in the world. It just happens. This is a story about Erin and her person, her father, Gene. It’s about having that person and losing that person. What becomes of us when we become completely untethered? Told through the Florida Man zeitgeist, we follow a dysfunctional family as they navigate the breakdown and eventual loss of their patriarch.
At the center of the story is an unconventional love between a father and his adopted daughter, Erin — bound together not by blood but by choice. Erin (21) is headed back home to South Florida, after taking a sabbatical from college to take care of her sick dad, Gene – a Jewish ex-wrestler, lovable con man, and drug addict.
