Tamu & Kioko is an interactive XR climate education experience that combines animation, augmented reality, and game-based storytelling to engage children, families, and youth in environmental awareness and indigenous ecological knowledge. The project follows two central characters, Tamu and Kioko, as they explore their community and learn how everyday choices impact nature, climate, and future generations.
Designed as a participatory narrative experience, users do not simply watch the story—they interact with it. Through immersive environments and decision-based gameplay, audiences explore environmental challenges such as conservation, waste management, and sustainable living while learning from culturally grounded storytelling inspired by African ecological knowledge systems.
The experience is built as a cross-platform XR ecosystem, including interactive animated episodes, mobile AR storytelling moments, and exploratory gameplay designed for shared learning between children, parents, and educators. The goal is to transform climate education into an engaging and emotionally resonant experience that encourages real-world environmental awareness and actiion.
